Where Historical Documents Tell Their Stories

Located within the historic complex of Our Lady of Mercy Church, this museum was founded in 2010 through the initiative of Friar Javier Mañas García. In 2019, during World Youth Day, it expanded its exhibits to share its heritage with visitors. Its collection includes more than 100 pieces, ranging from manuscripts and colonial paintings to sculptures and religious artifacts. Among its highlights are historical parish records documenting significant events, such as the baptism of General Tomás Herrera and the marriage of Manuel Amador Guerrero to María Ossa de Amador.

A Journey Through Bells and Memories

The museum features five exhibition spaces spread across two floors, where illuminated display cases and interactive exhibits introduce visitors to different historical periods. One of its most remarkable pieces is an 18th-century oil painting depicting the genealogy of the Mercedarian Order.

The tour also leads to a colonial courtyard featuring historic bells and a well that tells its own story through an interactive narrative. The combination of architecture, technology, and historical artifacts makes the visit an educational experience. More than a collection of religious art, this museum offers visitors an opportunity to discover how records from past generations continue to preserve Panama's history and cultural memory.
