A Walk to Slow Down… and Turn Up the Romance
Sometimes, a good date only needs two hands held together and a beautiful place where you can lose track of time. Esteban Huertas Promenade has also been known for years as the Lovers’ Walk, thanks to the couples who often come here to spend time together. The path runs beneath arches covered in bougainvillea and is lined with benches where you can sit, talk, take a break, or simply enjoy the breeze coming in from Panama Bay.
This is not the kind of attraction that requires a map or a complicated itinerary. Its charm lies in doing very little: walking slowly with your partner, stopping beneath the flowers, taking photos, and finding a bench where you can sit for a while and enjoy the view.
Sunset, Raspao, and a Movie-Like View
Late afternoon suits this promenade especially well. From the top of the old city walls, you can look out over the bay and, in the distance, see part of Panama City’s modern skyline. The contrast between historic buildings, the sea, and skyscrapers creates one of the most memorable views in the area.
The plan can be as simple as buying a raspao, walking hand in hand, and waiting together for the sun to start going down. It does not need to be an elaborate date. The sound of the city in the distance, the bougainvillea overhead, and the open view of the water already set the mood.
The Lovers’ Walk is a reminder that Casco Antiguo is also meant to be enjoyed slowly. It is a place to talk, watch the sunset, and share something simple with someone special — one of those spots where the real attraction is not only what you are looking at, but who you are looking at it with.
