Panama, Through Rako’s Lens
Behind Rako is Andrés Rivera, a Panamanian-Venezuelan artist who uses illustration to highlight scenes, symbols, and traditions that people often see every day without really stopping to notice. His visual world blends Pop Art, Street Art, and Streetwear with humor, nostalgia, and local culture.
That is why, at Rako Store, a raspao is no longer just shaved ice with syrup. It can become a print, a T-shirt, or a pin. Everyday life changes format, but it still keeps its unmistakably Panamanian flavor.
When an Illustration Becomes a Keepsake
The walls and shelves are filled with pieces that celebrate Panama without falling into the predictable souvenir formula: signed prints, T-shirts, caps, stickers, pins, mugs, and canvas artwork. Even Casco Viejo has its own illustration, first drawn by hand and later digitized by the artist.
Rako opened its stores in Casco Antiguo in 2023, and since then, its work has become part of the neighborhood’s creative scene.
You do not come here simply to buy something that says “Panama.” You come to discover what the country looks like after passing through an illustrator’s imagination. And you may end up taking home a memory of something you had already seen before—just never quite like this.
