A Little Piece of the Tropics Hidden Inside Casco
Sometimes the best plan begins when you find a place that almost feels like a secret. From the outside, Snack Shack can be easy to miss. But once you step inside, the scene changes: an open-air patio appears, surrounded by greenery, hanging lights, and a small tiki-style bar that makes Casco Antiguo feel just a little closer to the beach.
That contrast is part of its charm. Outside, you have historic façades, movement, and the busy streets of Casco. Inside, everything invites you to slow down. You do not need to dress up for a formal dinner or wait for a special occasion. Snack Shack works best when the plan is simply not to overthink the plan: sit under the plants, order something fresh, and let a casual meal become a much-needed break.
Founded in 2016, the concept focuses on homemade, health-conscious food with a tropical spirit. And despite the name Snack Shack, there is much more here than just small bites.
Eating Light Does Not Mean Eating Boring
The menu moves between bowls, tacos, salads, breakfast dishes, and fresh plates with coastal influences. Fish tacos, ceviche, bowls, and the well-known Avenida Salad, made with kale, roasted sweet potato, chickpeas, cranberries, and feta, capture the personality of the place perfectly: fresh ingredients, bright colors, and satisfying food that does not feel too heavy.
You will also find cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and vegetarian and vegan options, but Snack Shack is not only about being “healthy.” A piña colada or a cocktail under the little tiki hut can easily turn a quiet lunch into an afternoon no one is in a hurry to end.
And that is what makes the place special: it does not try to impress with formality. Its personality comes from feeling fresh, relaxed, and slightly hidden away. It is the kind of restaurant you can walk into after spending hours under the sun, order tacos and something cold, find a table among the plants, and think, “Yeah… I could stay here for a while.”
Because in a neighborhood where almost everything invites you to keep walking and discovering, Snack Shack does something different: it gives you a really good reason to stop.
